I can’t believe it’s been a year since my last “From Deja” post! Where have I been? What have I been doing? Well, I wasn’t just wasting time! Life has happened at a faster than the speed of light pace! I hope you are Embracing Life and all the experiences it has to offer! In the meantime, let me share with you a few things that have been going on in my world:
* In 2010 I became a Certified Life Coach – Okay well, the Certification is pending, but I’m claiming it NOW! LOL!
* Launched InnerView Coaching, LLC. It’s my coaching company, whose site just launched two weeks ago. (www.InnerViewCoachin.com) sign up for the newsletter!
*And last but not least, I was fired from my radio job with the company that I’d worked for most of my professional career! BUT (there’s always a but), I am still here and on the air through Sirius/XM radio on The Heat.
There. That covers about 5 months of M.I.A. details! The rest we’ll just leave to being “super-busy” (wink). I promise to do better this year! As a matter of fact, we’re kicking off our first SistaGirlz Salutes Empowerment Breakfast on March 5, 2011! Save the date!
Until our next chat, stay sweet! I loves ya, but SistaGirlz Gots to Go!

Rihanna the Role Model?
February 1, 2011 by admin
Why do we feel the need to put these celebs up on a pedestal when they’re only human? Folks are all in an up roar over Rihanna’s personal tweets to her friend Katie Perry. She used the “C” word during a recent tweet and parents are all upset! Let that girl live! She’s 22! What were you doing when you were 22? What were you saying or writing (texting was around back when you were 22, LOL).
But seriously, we need to let out young girls know that the celebs are human. They don’t do or say the perfect thing at all times. Share the fact that we can look up to these people, but we are not to follow or emulate their every step. So when the next story says that Rihanna has nude pictures on the net turns out to be true, don’t be mad at the singer. Just understand she’s living her life in a way that works for her. You should teach your daughter/sister/cousin/YOURSELF to do the same!
p.s. Rihanna said that the nude flicks on the ‘net are her when she was skinny. Well, what is she now? SMH! LOL
One-Drop Theory: Outdated?

Halle Berry’s custody battle is heating up, and not just in the court room . It’s stirring up conversations regarding the old Jim Crow rule of someone being Black, just because they have “One-Drop” of Black blood.
The issue arises because Halle Berry is a bi-racial woman, who identifies herself as Black. Therefore, she considers her daughter Black as well, even though her daughter’s father is White.
“I feel she’s black. I’m black and I’m her mother, and I believe in the one-drop theory,” Berry told Ebony Magazine.
The comments are heating up due to the fact the U.S. population is seeing an increase in multi-ethnic marriages. One in seven marriages is between people of different races or ethnicities, according to a Pew Research Center.
Is it about time to throw out old Jim Crow for good? Where does this conversation end? I don’t believe it will ever end, but I do believe as the years go on, it will eventually be a non-issue.
Meanwhile, Halle and her ex Gabriel are continuing to battle it out in the courthouse about whether their daughter is Black or White (fade in Michael Jackson’s music here, LOL)
What do you think about the One- Drop Theory? Leave me a comment!

I saw a local news station giving info on Weird Home Remedies, and I had to do further investigation. Some of these seem way out there, but I’m willing to try anything to save a few dollars in this tight economy! Okay, well not ANYTHING, but a lot of things! LOL! Check out some of these suggestions! Would you use them?
Vodka can be used to cure your “stankin’ feet”! LOL! Tell Didd to hold off on the Ciroc and Cranberry for a second, you have to soak a washcloth in the vodka! Take the cloth and run it over your feet a couple of times and the chemicals act as an antiseptic, and diffuses the odor! Wowzers!
If you’re out of Neo-sporin, just sprinkle some Ground Cloves on that cut! Cloves contain a chemical called eugenol, which acts as an antiseptic and prevents pain! Interesting!
Okay, I’m mad about this one! I’ve been spending all that money on my Crest White Strips, when I could have just eaten more apples to get my teeth whiter! What! Yep! According to reports crunch fruits and veggies have malic acid, which acts a gentle cleaner and removes stains! Hollla! I’m trying that one today! LOL

Best Valentine’s Day Ever?

It’s that time of year again, SistaGirlz! Are you ready for the LOVE? I used to be all about Valentine’s Day. My honey would send me beautiful flowers and boxes of candy. Okay, wait. I still want the flowers and boxes of candy, but I don’t feel the pressing need to be extra romantic these days. Perhaps I’ve become settled (we’re not even married yet, yikes), but when my fiance told me he would be out of town for Valentine’s Day, I shrugged. Who cares?
Could this have something to do with over-saturation, force-fed romanticism we see surrounding February 14th? Lots of my single girlfriends end up feeling funky because they’re single during this time of year, which leads to me feeling somewhat guilty for having my “man who loves me” as they say. I don’t know, maybe it’s a combination of things, but I am not pressed to celebrate this year. Hmmm. What about you?
Let’s conjure up some of those good vibes, whether it was V-day related or not. Tell me the most romantic thing someone has done for you! C’mon! Leave me a comment!
Iphone Confessions? OMG! LOL!

Have we really gotten this lazy? Hey, I’m all for convenience, but are we really doing Iphone Confessions now? Yep! There’s an app for that! LOL! It’s funny, but kind of sad at the same time. The Vatican actually just issued a ban on confessions by Iphone.
It is essential to understand that the rites of penance require a personal dialogue between penitents and their confessor… It cannot be replaced by a computer application,” Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi told journalists.
“I must stress to avoid all ambiguity, under no circumstance is it possible to ‘confess by iPhone’,” he said
Have we really gotten this lazy? It started back when all of the preachers started becoming Televangelists. We figured we could get spiritually fed just by attending the church of Couch and Pajamas.
Now, we’re walking down the street on our phone confessing! What ever happened to really taking stock of your spiritual life?
I’m not saying you HAVE to go to a building for your God (whatever your religion may be), but I thought the point was communing with a higher being to center yourself; to gain clarity. I think what we need to do is slow down and re-organize our priorities. Maybe someone should develop an app for that!
